Republican Group Honors Long-Time Probate Judge

3

Brewer - A long-time probate judge was honored in Brewer on Saturday.

The Penobscot County Republican Women invited Probate Judge Alan Woodcook Junior to their annual luncheon.

Woodcock served as a probate judge for 50 years before retiring in January.

He said he love hearing the people's rights cases like name changes, guardian ships, and wills, but he says he enjoyed hearing the adoption cases the most.

"It gave me an enormous privilege to sit there and see the joy on the faces of the adoptive parents and the child as they were adopted," said the former judge.

President of Penobscot County Republican Women, Lois Bloomer said "It let's people know when you do serve, people do appreciate it."

Woodcock said he probably heard over 4,000 adoption cases over the past five decades.
