Orono -
Purple, green, and gold are being worn all over the world and on the UMaine campus.
The Franco-American Center in Orono held their annual Mardi Gras celebration.
They were at the Dexter Lounge next to the Alfond Arena.
"When we think of Mardi Gras, we always look to Lousiana, and it's not the case. We have our French people right here in Maine. Up to 40% of the sate of Maine is of French-Canadian descent," said Lisa Michaud, the communications coordinator at the Franco-American Center in Orono.
The festivities included the food, music, and, of course, beads.
