Bangor -
Tap Into Summer, that's what the Greater Bangor Convention and Visitors Bureau, known as CVB, wants you to try come June.
Owner of Geaghan's Restaurant, Pub, and Brewery in Bangor, Peter Geaghan said "People are signing up as we speak, I'm sure. Breweries from all over Maine will be there."
The first Bangor Beer Festival will be coming to the Bangor Waterfront on June 22nd and local breweries, like Geaghan's, Black Bear, and the Seadog are all taking part.
"The brewing community, and I mean community, is a wonderful group of people. We're all passionate about brewing beer and servicing the community," said Geaghan.
Kerrie Trip, Executive Director of the CVB said two keynote speakers from TheBeerGeek.com will also make an appearance. "They have traveled the world, going to over 700 breweries each, and they'll talk about some of their experiences."
Many of the favorite Maine-made beers will be available at the event, but some companies are even making their own special brews just for this summer.
Tripp said "They'll talk about how they made it, why they made it, how it should be tasting, and how the pairing should go."
CVB's Executive Director said even the designated drivers can enjoy the event. "We're offering a special discounted rate. Some prizes and a "thank you" for being that person, that safety person for the day"
For now, this event is the light at the end of the tunnel for many brewers.
The owner of Geaghan's said "It should warm you up a bit, just thinking about it, and I'm sure it will be a great time."
You can head to VisitBangorMaine.com/TapIntoSummer for tickets. VIP tickets, which include lunch, are $50 and general admission is $25.
The event is only for those who are 21 and older.
