Bangor -
A lawyer in Bangor is going to jail for six months for possessing child pornography.
53-year-old Richard Violette pleaded guilty Friday to a misdemeanor charge.
He was originally charged with a felony but prosecutors couldn't determine if the children in the photos were under the age of 12.
The Penobscot County District Attorney's office says Bangor police got a tip that Violette was downloading child pornography on computers at his home.
In April police went to the house and seized three computers, which they say had evidence of child porn.
The Maine Board of Oversees of the Bar reports last week Violette was temporarily suspended from practicing law.
