Bangor -
The United Way of Eastern Maine has 2.1 million reasons to be thankful this winter.
On Wesnesday, the group celebrated the finale of their fund raising campaign with an event at Darling's Ford in Bangor.
Their goal was to help more than 70,000 people in the area through their collection efforts.
Various donors and non-profit leaders enjoyed each other's company.
The money will be distributed to charitable organizations in Penobscot, Piscataquis, Washington, Hancock, and Waldo Counties.
"We have had many, many successful campaigns, so we intend to recognize some of these companies that have done a really great job," said Susan Faloon, the 2012 Eastern Maine United Way Campaign Chair.
"We support over 70 programs at non-profit agencies, so the money that we raise is very important into funding those non-profits and really changing lives," said Shirar Patterson, the Vice President of Community Impact for the United Way of Eastern Maine.
It’s still not too late to donate.
