Ellsworth -
Ellsworth police have identified a man they believe stole checks from mailboxes and cashed them at a store in Ellsworth.
Police aren't releasing his name because he hasn't been charged.
US Postal Service inspectors will decide whether or not to file federal charges.
The man is suspected of taking more than $2,400 worth of checks out of mailboxes and using them to buy things at the Ellsworth Home Depot, then returning the items for cash at the Bangor Home Depot.
Police say the man is in custody on other charges.
