Members of the Workforce and Economic Future Committee to Visit Bangor and Orono

3

Bangor - Maine legislators serving on a new committee looking for ways to strengthen the state's workforce and improve the state economy are visiting Bangor and Orono.

Members of the Workforce and Economic Future Committee are touring the University of Maine's Advance Manufacturing Center in Orono on Wednesday as it focuses on workforce development. After the tour, they'll take part in a panel discussion and public hearing at Eastern Maine Community College in Bangor.

The 15-member bipartisan committee is tasked with developing legislation to strengthen Maine's workforce and help small businesses thrive. Much of its work will be directed at training Mainers with skills needed by businesses, and revitalizing small, downtown businesses.

Wednesday's visit to Bangor and Orono is the committee's first road trip, with at least two more planned.
