UMaine Takes a Stand Against Domestic Abuse

3

Orono - February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, and the UMaine community is taking a stand.

The Maine Coalition to End Domestic Violence (MCEDV) was at the UMaine hockey game to raise awareness.

2,000 Rally Towels were given to fans with the message, "There's No Excuse for Domestic Abuse" as well as the statewide hotline number.

The Black Bears also showed their support for the cause.

"The special thing about this game is all the players and coaching staff for Umaine are wearing purple ribbons, which is a first for us and they're really taking a stand against domestic abuse," said Margo Batsie, Member Services Coordinator for MCEDV.

If you or someone you know is a victim of domestic abuse, you can reach the Maine state hotline at 1-866-834-4357.
