A manufacturing plant in Saco will help produce new machine guns on vehicles, boats, and helicopters.
Senators Susan Collins and Angus King said about 3,000 of the kits will be made at General Dynamics' plant in Maine.
Collins said the plant is a critical part of the national defense industrial base.
The Vermont-based contractor has been awarded $14.3 million for the project.
