Governor LePage has turned down a deal offered by the state's wholesale liquor distributor.
Maine Beverage would pay the state $320 million over ten years if the state would extend the contract without a bidding process.
That company has held the wholesale liquor contract for the past decade, a contract that runs out next year.
The governor believes the state can make more money putting the contract out to competitive bids.
