Two Maine Projects to Receive the National Coastal Wetland Conservation Grants

3

Orono, Harpswell - Two projects in Maine are going to get an infusion of cash from the Federal Government.

Senators Susan Collins and Angus King, Junior announced the money will be coming from national coastal wetland conservation grants from the US Fish and Wildlife Service.

One million dollars will go to the Penobscot River Restoration Trust for dam removal as they attempt to restore up to 300 acres of habit along the Penboscot.

300 thousand dollars will be given to the Harpswell Heritage Land Trust and the Maine Coastal Heritage Land Trust to buy a part of White's Island for conservation purposes.
