Judge Delays Zumba Trial

3

A judge has delayed the trial of a key figure in a prostitution scandal centered at a Zumba dance studio in Maine.

Justice Nancy Mills said Tuesday the trial cannot proceed until the state supreme court rules on an appeal of her decision to dismiss 46 counts against Mark Strong Sr.

Strong's lawyers want to continue with a trial on the remaining 13 counts. But Mills said the court needs to rule to prevent the possibility of two separate trials, should the 46 counts be reinstated.

In the meantime, potential jurors remained in limbo, on call through March 1.

Strong, an insurance agent, is accused of conspiring with Alexis Wright, who's charged with using her Kennebunk dance studio as a prostitution front. Both pleaded not guilty. She'll be tried later.
