Pleasant Ridge Plantation -
Authorities say a man suffered serious injuries when he was pinned between a tractor-trailer and wood chipper in rural Somerset County.
Freeman Cromwell, of Brighton Plantation, had to be flown to a Bangor hospital after the accident Monday morning.
State police Sgt. Peter Michaud says Cromwell was the driver of a tractor-trailer chip truck being fed by an industrial wood-chipping machine. He tells the Morning Sentinel, that Cromwell walked to the back of the vehicle when the chipper slipped on the icy ground, pinning him between the chipper and the rear of the trailer.
Cromwell suffered internal injuries and legs injuries.
The accident is under investigation by state and federal authorities but no charges are expected.
