Bangor City Council Authorizes Lease For State Police

Bangor - Troop E of the Maine State Police is moving.

The Bangor City Council authorized a lease between the city and the Maine Department of Public Safety that will support a new workspace for state police.

State police say they've outgrown their current headquarters in Orono and need a new site, closer to the interstate.

They’ll be moving in to the old FAA flight service station by Bangor International Airport.

The agreement says the state will lease the building for 10 years, with 2 options for a 5 year extension.

They’ll be using two buildings, one for headquarters, and another as a garage.

The lease agreement will cost the state just over $111,000 in the first five years.

Now that the lease is authorized, Troop E could move in as soon as springtime.
