Rockport -
Subzero temperatures may not be the most pleasant thing, but patrons at a resort in Rockport were enjoying it.
On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the Samoset Resort opened the hotel's "Ice Bar," a fully functioning bar made completely out of ice.
The master chef at the resort carved 18,000 pounds of ice to make the bar and the surrounding furniture.
General Manager of The Samoset Resort, Connie Russel said curiosity is what drove people from all over to check it out. "It turned out to be very successful. We had a huge turn out, not just community-wide, but state-wide as well. It was something fun to do in the winter."
The bar is officially closed for the season, but the owner said they plan to open another ice bar in 2014.
