Maine Courts Will Collect New Information for Gun Database

3

Augusta - The Pine Tree State is starting to collect the names of mental ill people who pose a threat to society and give the list to FBI.

This Spring, Maine's courts will hand the information over and it will be added to the list for a national database to check gun buyers.

Under Federal law, mentally ill people are legally prohibited from owning guns, but Maine has long been unable to add the names of such people to the national database.
