Hundreds Head to Portland for Tar Sands Oil Protest

3

Portland - Hundreds gathered on Saturday afternoon for the largest protest in New England against the tar sands oil from Canada.

People lined the Maine State Pier in Portland and protestors said Canadian energy firm Enbridge Inc. is looking into an oil pipeline that currently carries oil from Portland to Montreal.

They said the company wants to reverse the flow and send the oil across Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine, but Enbridge says it has no plans to use the Montreal-to-Portland pipeline for anything.

Ha ha that's funny, sounds like the protestors put the cart before the horse. If Enbridge is allready using the pipe, what difference does the direction of flow make? I guess the protestors have oil furnaces, if they weren't at home tending the wood stove on Sat. afternoon.
