Stove Ash Ignites Fire at Rockland Transfer Station

3

Rockland - Improper disposal of stove ashes is the cause of a fire at a transfer station in Rockland on Saturday.

The Fire Chief says the stove ashes were dumped with wood and furniture, causing the coals to ignite.

The Rockland Fire Department was able to put the fire out quickly and no one was hurt.

Firefighters want to remind people to dispose of their stove ashes in the proper receptacles to avoid causing a fire.
