The Maine Board of Environmental Protection has voted to ban the chemical BPA from baby food and infant formula packaging.
State lawmakers now must review and authorize the action.
In June, petitions from Maine voters called on the board to replace BPA in baby and toddler food packaging with safer alternatives.
