Bangor, Carmel -
Bail was set Tuesday at $3,000 for a man from Carmel accused of hitting a toddler.
30-year-old Scott Peavey is charged with assault.
The Penobscot County District Attorney's office says Peavey was intoxicated when he allegedly hit the 14-month old child in a car parked outside of St. Joseph Hospital in Bangor on Saturday.
We're told the child had significant bruises on the face. The child was treated and released from the hospital.
Peavey is a convicted sex offender and is listed on the state's sex offender registry.
He's due back in court next month.
