Tips to Keep Pets Safe during Frigid Temperatures

3

Bangor - It's not just humans who have to deal with the frigid temperatures, pets have to put up with them too.

Veterinarians say the cold weather can be very rough on animals.

Dogs and cats who need to go outside shouldn't stay out for very long.

The wind adds to the problems because animals can get frost bite very quickly.

" If you're uncomfortable in it, your pets are not comfortable in it. Keep them indoors, make sure that their feet are protected when the go outside if they go out for any period of time, better yet, don't take them for runs or long walks," said John Benson, a veterinarian with Broadway Veterinary Clinic in Bangor.

Make sure your pets have plenty of food, water, and warm, comfortable bedding to help keep them healthy during the winter months.
