8th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Vigil

3

Bangor - Around the nation and across the Pine Tree State, people paused to remember Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, and his contributions to the civil rights movement.

In Bangor, members of the Unitarian Universalist Church gathered to remember Dr. King with a vigil in his honor.

James Varner, President of the Maine Human Rights Coalition, led the service that included song and prayer.

Varner hopes that Dr. King's message of peace, love, and acceptance continues to grow.

"People come and get their human batteries recharged so that they over flow with love, you know? My cup runneth over? Let my cup run over with love, you know, for my brothers and sisters," said Varner.

This is the 8th year for the vigil, in remembrance of Dr. King.
