St. Joseph Healthcare Donates Tree of Food to Salvation Army

3

Bangor - A tree of cans will help a lot of local people.

St. Joseph Healthcare employees are donating hundreds of cans of food to the Bangor Salvation Army.

St. Joseph Heathcare's Mission Outreach Committee organized the collection, as part of its efforts to improve food security for Mainers.

" Everyone knows someone that might be homeless, or their paycheck doesn't spread as far as people would like it to. We just felt this would be a really nice way to help the community," said Bonnie Richards, patient service representative with St. Joseph Healthcare.

" Every day we have families and seniors coming to us who have need of food and our food pantry, sometimes it's well stocked, sometimes it's not so well stocked so to receive a donation like this will really help us to better serve all the people who come to us every day for help," added Capt. Tim Clark with the Bangor Salvation Army.

In 2012 the employees also collected pet food for seniors, filled backpacks with food for children, and provided meals for people at the Bangor Area Homeless Shelter.
