Canadian Man Shipped Out of Country after Conviction

A Canadian man convicted of lying in order to buy guns has been sent back to Canada and told not to return to the US.

Yesterday in federal court in Bangor, 35-year-old Jeremy Gertsch of Quebec was sentenced to sixteen months in prison.

Since he had already served that time while awaiting trial, he was sent back to Canada.

Police say a year ago he rented a room at an Augusta hotel and got a Maine driver's license, listing the hotel address as his home and used the license to buy eight handguns in Maine.
