Mid-Coast Lobstermen Accused of Illegal Catch Plead Not Guilty

3

Union, South Thomaston - A father and son accused of possessing more than 400 illegal lobsters pleaded not guilty Monday.

48-year-old Ricky Curtis of Union and 29-year-old Todd Curtis of South Thomaston are facing fines of up to $190,000.

The Marine Patrol reportedly discovered the illegally caught lobsters last month on Ricky Curtis' boat.

We're told they were egg-bearing lobsters with notched tails and were supposed to be returned to the ocean to breed.

The two men entered a plea through a lawyer in Knox County District Court.

They're set to go on trial February.
