An organization in Old Town that's working to keep people warm this winter needs the community's help.
Independent Home Resources started an emergency fuel and heating assistance program a couple of months ago.
It's designed for anyone who needs it - from working families to those waiting for their low-income heating aid to kick in.
The fund depends on donations and is nearly tapped out.
Ila Mae, the CEO and founder, says, "Those that have found is have reached a capacity beyond what we're able to come forward with as far as the donations. And that's why we're reaching out to the public today for help."
Nanci Loring, the program director, says, "Without the donations that means families are going to go without heat and you have families out there that are elderly, seniors who need to keep warm due to to health issues. You have children out there that may have a disability that need to be in a warm climate or in a warm environment."

They're also collecting bottles and cans for the fuel fund.
