Bangor -
A hardware store in Bangor with ties to the community for nearly a century has closed.
Aubuchon Hardware on Washington Street shut its doors Thursday.
Store manager Fred Stewart says the company decided it didn't make financial sense to keep it open anymore.
Ten people worked at the store. Two of them will move to Aubuchon stores in Brewer and Old Town. The 8 other part-time employees are being laid off.
Aubuchon bought the previous hardware store in the Penobscot Plaza seven years ago.
That's when the company took over Bangor True Value Hardware, which got its start in 1914.
