Hallowell -
A pre-release center in Hallowell that has housed Maine inmates for thirty-four years is shutting down.
The Department of Corrections says inmates at the Central Maine Pre-Release Center will be relocated to the minimum-security Bolduc Correctional Facility in Warren.
The center has fifty-eight inmates and twenty-one employees.
It opened in the former Stevens School complex in 1979.
Prisoners are sent there to take part in public restitution work crews and a work release program.
Officials say it's being closed to save money.
