Sullivan/Ellsworth -
Sumner Memorial High School honors students are planning a big trip to Washington, D.C., but they need some help to get there.
They're heading to the nation's capital in March and will be visiting all of the monuments and museums.
They hope a benefit concert planned for Friday night will help them get closer to their fundraising goal.
"In the past, we've been fundraising a lot and it was really hard to get there and we thought what a better way to do this than to get Chris Ross because he's very well known, he's an amazing musician," said Sierra Weeks, an honors student heading to D.C.
Singer/Songwriter Chris Ross is a native of Hancock. He's performed at The Grand before, but this will be the first time giving his own concert there.
Ross said, "People seem to dig it. I have a lot of stuff that's in between rock and country and folk and it's whatever you want it to be."
Chris Ross will be at The Grand in Ellsworth on Friday, January 11 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $15 each. They're available by phone by calling The Grand's box office at 667-9500 or online at grandonline.org.
