UMaine Women's Basketball Falls To Hartford At Home

Orono - For the first time in six and a half weeks, the UMaine women's basketball team had fans cheering for them! The Black Bears returning home to the Alfond, for the first time since November, for a conference game against Hartford.

The two men's teams actually playing this afternoon in Connecticut, and UMaine's four game win streak was snapped with a 68-61 loss.

So the women were hoping to make up for it with possibly their first conference victory of the season.

Maine was down 25-17 at halftime, but a good start to the second half. Chantel Charles finds Danielle Walczak for two. The sophomore with 15 points to lead the Black Bears in this one.

Hartford going on a big run in the second half though. Alex Hall with a three-ball from the wing as the Hawks led as much as 19.

The Black Bears fighting tough though. First, a nice block by freshman Liz Wood to get the ball back. Then a few seconds later, it's Charles who takes it through the lane, count it, and the foul. But UMaine falls tonight to Hartford, 52-37.
