New Schedule Out for Lobster Forums

3

Three public forums by the Maine Department of Marine Resources to discuss the state of the lobster industry have been rescheduled.

Forums originally scheduled for Jan. 3 at the Jonesport Fire Station and Machias Memorial High School; and a forum scheduled for Jan. 4 at the Gouldsboro Community Center, have been postponed until later this month.

The Gouldsboro meeting is now scheduled for Jan. 24 at noon, while the Machias meeting has been moved to Jan. 24 at 5 p.m. at the University of Maine-Machias.

The Jonesport meeting is new set for noon on Jan. 25.

Marine Resources Commissioner Patrick Keliher says he's seeking ideas about the harvest, prices, Maine's relationship with Canada, the state's marketing strategy and the lobster licensing system.

The full schedule is at http://www.maine.gov/dmr/LobsterIndustry.htm
