Bangor -
UMaine basketball plays a lot of its home games at Alfond Arena and the Memorial Gym on campus, but they might also take advantage of the new Cross Insurance Center in downtown Bangor next winter.
UMaine Athletic Director Steve Abbott has talked with the Director of the Bass Park Complex, Mike Dyer, about playing most of the home schedule in the new arena.
The last time Black Bear teams played home games in Bangor was back in 1989 thru 1991 at the Bangor Auditorium. Dyer told us this afternoon he's sent UMaine a draft of an agreement and is waiting to hear back from the university. Dyer said that it wouldn't be a long term deal and the Black Bears could try it out for a year, at the least. UMaine had planned to renovate the Memorial Gym on campus, but that idea was pushed away last fall.
