State Police Detective Justified in Deadly Shooting

Maine's Attorney General says a state police detective was justified in the deadly shooting of a man in Lamoine last fall.

Authorities say 27-year-old Leon Tilden was armed and had just killed his father and uncle.

Detective Randall Keaten encountered Tilden running down a trail and opened fire.

Tilden died later.

The AG's report says after shooting his father and his uncle, Tilden was seen armed with a shotgun running into the woods.

The report says Tilden had a handgun too and that a sawed-off shotgun was found near the spot where he fell.
