Angus King Sworn in as Senator

3

Angus King is now US Senator Angus King.

He succeeds Olympia Snowe, who retired after three terms in the Senate.

Vice President Joe Biden gave the oath to newly elected senators this afternoon, first as a group, then individually.

King was escorted to the Senate floor by Maine's now Senior Senator Susan Collins.

Collins then joined King for a reception to greet supporters from Maine.

King, who served two terms as Maine governor, was elected to the Senate in November.

Dear Senator King,
The Senate filibuster rule has got to be changed! If there is to be a filibuster make them stand there and discuss why they are holding up legislation.

Force the Senate to take care of the people's needs, not the needs of the Republican party. There were 386 filibusters in the previous Congress. All silent. Make them stand up and speak!

Sincerely
Sarah A. Wells
