Today is "Olympia Snowe" day in Auburn, as proclaimed by the city's mayor.
That's where she grew up, and she once represented Auburn as a state lawmaker.
She went on to serve thirty-four years in Congress, both the US House and Senate.
She decided not to run for re-election to the Senate in November because of all the partisan bickering in Washington.
Wednesday is Snowe's final full day in office.
