Bangor's "Downtown Countdown" may not have the star power of a TV personality like Dick Clark , but West Market Square certainly was rockin on Monday night.
The festivities began late Monday afternoon and wrapped up with the iconic beach ball drop from atop Patty Murphy's restaurant at midnight.
There was plenty for folks to enjoy, even in the frigid temperatures.
Some found creative ways to stay warm while waiting for 2013, like arm wrestling, as part of the first annual Mr. and Mrs. Paul Bunyan competition.
Folks say the local tradition is a great way to ring in the new year, while building community.
