Warden Service Urging Snowmobilers to Ride Safely

3

Augusta - With the first major winter storm of the season blanketing most of Maine with snow, the state warden service is urging snowmobilers to ride safely during the season ahead.

The power sledding season is getting off to a strong start with snow on the ground across the entire state, a sharp contrast to last winter when temperatures were mild and there was a lack of snow.

Col. Joel Wilkinson of the Maine Warden Service and Bob Meyers of the Maine Snowmobile Association are holding a news conference Friday to discuss the upcoming season.

Meyers said snowmobilers are excited about the plentiful snow after last year's dismal season, but he says riders should take it easy as they start rolling out on Maine's 14,000 miles of trails.
