Here's a reminder for pet owners during extreme weather.
If you have a pet that spends time outside, experts advise keeping them indoors as much as possible when it snows.
Chemicals that they can get into this time of year poses one of the biggest threats to pets.
"Anti-freeze is always a concern, because it's very, very toxic, and it tastes very, very sweet. I'm told by the scientists that know, that it tastes not unlike sugar-syrup, so it's very, very attractive to dogs, cats, birds, even wildlife may tend to lap it up," said Don Hanson, co-owner of Green Acres Kennel Shop in Bangor.
Also, wipe paws when pets come inside.
Snow may clump and salt may become corrosive to the pads on the paws.
Make sure pets have access to water at all times.
Check water dishes often to make sure it isn't frozen.
Heated water dishes are a suggestion.
Keeping warm uses more energy, so pets left outside longer will require more food.
Always try to have shelter set-up.
