Orono -
The UMaine men's basketball team returning home to Alfond Arena to host Florida Gulf Coast, hoping for better results than last weekend.
The Black Bears had only had three home games coming in, but they were 2-1 in Orono.
Florida Gulf Coast trying to make a second half run. A floater in the lane from Christophe Varidel and the Maine lead was down to five.
But on the other end, nice pass inside and then a beautiful lay-in by Ali Fraser with the opposite hand. Fraser had 21 points in the game for the Black Bears.
But the team from warmer weather would make it a close one. Filip Cvjeticanin with a three-ball in the corner. Florida Gulf Coast getting as close as two, but Maine would not be denied today.
The sophomore sensation Justin Edwards draws the foul, and a nice touch on the jumper to make it a three point play! The Black Bears improve to 4-8 on the year with an 84-78 victory.
