A Holden woman is asking the Facebook community to take a moment to remember the Victims in Newtown, Connecticut Friday morning.
Deborah Jewette-Chretien started the Facebook event called "Newtown, CT Moment of Silence." She's asking social media users to update their status to the word (Silence) 10:00 am Friday morning.
Chretien said she got the idea after she saw how many people were commenting about the 20 children and 6 adults killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
As of Thursday afternoon more than 15,000 Facebook users said they will attend the moment of silence.
She believes it is time for people to put their political, religious, and personal agendas aside for the people of Newtown. Chretien said "We always seem to take a tragedy and turn it into our own agenda. That's not what people in Newtown need. They ned to know that we, as Americans, love support, and are grieving beside them. We come with nothing but love."
Governor Paul LePage is also asking Mainer's to remember the victims of the shooting. LePage asks people to observe a moment of silence Friday morning at 9:30.
Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy has declared Friday an official day of mourning for the state.
