Addison Belfry Removed for Restoration

Addison - Quite the sight in Addison Thursday as residents watched a piece of history come down.

Work crews removed the belfry from the top of the 152-year-old church on the hill. The belfry is being taken to Hulls Cove, where it will be restored by R.L. White and Son.

The building had been abandoned. It's now owned by friends of the church on the hill, a group formed to raise funds to restore the landmark for use as a community center.

The current work is being paid for through a federal grant of almost 100-thousand dollars.

Once a new roof is put on the building next spring, the newly restored Beflry will be put back in place.
