Beddington -
A tractor-trailer accident in the Beddington area forced officials to shutdown Route 9 on Monday morning. Drivers are being detoured to the old Route 9, but officials recommend commuters seek an alternative route this afternoon, as it could be a couple hours before the road is cleared.
The single-car crash happened just east of Route 193 in Township 22 when the 18-wheeler flipped over and landed on its side. The truck was hauling tires, which have to be removed from the trailer and picked up by another truck before the scene can be cleared.
Deputy Sheriff Luke Gross of the Hancock County Sheriff's Department says the accident was weather related. He said the driver wasn't injured.
"I don't believe speed was a factor. Unfortunately, the conditions were very poor up here and this area is notorious for it's changing weather conditions and changing road conditions," said Deputy Sheriff Gross.
DEP was called to the scene as a precautionary measure due to a small fuel spill from the truck. DOT workers and the Mariaville Fire Department also responded.
