This is the time of year when healthy habits seem to be forgotten because of the holidays. Believe it or not, establishing and sticking to some healthy holiday habits won't take the joy out of the season, it actually makes it more joyful! You can't enjoy the season fully if you don't feel your best. Jackie Conn from Weight Watchers joined Jim Morris on TV5 News at 5 to share a recipe and some advice on how to create Healthy Holiday Habits!
1. Start with a vision. What are the important things you want to do/get done this holiday season?
2. Self care. Take time for yourself. Don't be afraid to say "no." It's okay to spend some time by yourself resting or to take a walk or just to sit and relax.
3. Stay active. Shopping is an activity but it can be exhausting. Carve out some activity time for fun things like dancing and playing!
4. Eat well. That doesn't mean staying away from holiday favorites. It means maintain balance and moderation. Build your meals around fruits and vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins. There is still room in a healthy diet for some sweet treats and some holiday "adult" beverages.
