Maine Transportation Conference Held In Augusta

3

Augusta - Things were moving at the Augusta Civic Center Thursday.

That's where the annual Maine Transportation Conference was held.

it's hosted by the Maine Department of Transportation.

This years theme: Driving Maine's Economy Through Transportation.

Organizers say the goal is to make people more aware of what transportation infrastructure means to our state's economy. "The high level bridge in Kittery, 75% of the gross domestic product travel over that bridge into Maine," said Maine DOT spokesperson Ted Talbot. "So it's incredibly important to maintain the infrastructure that we have. A lot of the people you see here today are not only responsible for that, but wanting a piece of that action."

More than 100 vendors were on-hand and they had a larger audience than previous years. We're told attendance is up 15%.
