Bangor -
St. Joseph Hospital held their annual "Lights Of Remembrance" dedication on Wednesday.
Each year, the hospital invites members of the community to remember and honor their loved ones as they turn on their Christmas lights outside the building.
Children from St. John's choir in Bangor sang Christmas carols while refreshments were served.
Mr. and Mrs. Claus even made an appearance.
Community members who donated a financial gift could have the name of a loved one hung on "The Remembrance Tree" inside the hospital.
But organizers say, the event is more important than just that.
"The most important thing to us is that we gather collectively and care about each other. If someone wants to make a gift in response to that, that is fine too," said Kassie Zeigler, Executive Director of Community Networks and Foundations at St. Joseph Healthcare.
Organizers tell us that this year's event was especially meaningful to them.
The longtime steward of the lighting, Mary Clift, lost her husband Edwin on November 24th.
He was the chair of St. Joseph Hospital's board of trustees.
Hospital employees say they would be remembering him tonight.
