Bangor Dog Park To Open Saturday

3

Bangor - The Bangor Dog Park will begin welcoming its furry friends following a special ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday.

"Friends Of The Bangor Dog Park" -- a division of the city's parks and recreation department -- has worked for the last year and a half to make this project a reality.

Organizers have raised nearly 20-thousand dollars in that time.

Now, they're excited to see their hard work pay off.

"You know, its awesome and we're going to take that day to celebrate and relax. Then, we're going to re-group and we're going to get back at it because right now this is just phase one. We're only opening up the small dog area, and a portion of the large dog area," said organizer Megan Nill. "We've got a lot of work to do."

The event runs from 11 A.M. until 2 P.M.

There will be giveaways, refreshments, raffles, and dog park merchandise for sale.

The park is located on Watchmaker Street in Bangor at Essex Woods Park.

Organizers tell us, all dogs will go home with a special surprise.
