A former Maine prosecutor who was arrested in New Mexico after nearly three weeks on the run will be brought back to Maine.
50-year-old James Cameron was arrested by U. S. Marshals Sunday morning at a convenience store in Albuquerque.
The U.S Attorney's Office says at a detention hearing Tuesday, Cameron confirmed his identity to a federal judge and the judge ordered Marshals to return him to his home state.
Cameron was convicted of child pornography charges two years ago and was sentenced to sixteen years in prison.
He had been out on bail while he appealed.
Cameron lost part of that appeal three weeks ago.
Authorities say that same day Cameron cut off his court-ordered electronic monitoring bracelet and took off in his car.
