Oxford Casino Has Taken in More Than $30 Million in Six Months

3

Oxford - Executives with the Oxford Casino say they have taken in more than $30 million in net revenues in the six months since the facility opened, but expansion plans remain in limbo.

General Manager and Vice President Jack Sours said there are no immediate plans to expand, but the casino would eventually like to build a hotel to attract overnight visitors and not just day-trippers.

An expansion that opened in September bumped the number of slot machines from 529 to 819. The number of table games increased from 12 to 22.

Sours tells the Sun Journal, that the casino also has to take into account planned expanded gambling opportunities in New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

The casino has resulted in nearly $13 million in tax revenue to the state.
