Milbridge Seniors Decorate Wreaths Honoring Military Members

3

Milbridge - The residents at Narraguagus Bay Healthcare Facility spent the day decorating about 40 wreaths.

"The wreaths brought here today are wreaths that will be going to Arlington and the residents helped put the red bows on. We call them the remembrance wreaths, for remember honor and reach, which is our mission for wreaths across America," said Bunny O'Leary, an escort coordinator for Wreaths Across America.

Worcester Wreaths of Harrington has been taking wreaths to Arlington National Cemetery for years to honor fallen service members.

"We will be taking 100,000," said O'Leary.

This is the first time the residents here in Milbridge have been a part of it.

"It's very heartwarming. I know some of them are veterans and it just fits in with our mission. Remembering those who have fallen, honor those who have served, teaching our children the value of freedom. It's wonderful to see these residents glow with helping with that," said O'Leary.

"My residents will be waiting on December 9th for the caravan to go through town," said Marie Vandergriff, the resident coordinator.

Besides Arlington, wreaths will also be sent to more than 900 other locations across America and overseas.
