Bangor -
Every year, St. Joseph Hospital in Bangor honors employees and volunteers who go above and beyond.
The Mother Mary Angela Service Awards were given out on Wednesday afternoon during the hospital's Founder's Day celebration. Mother Angela founded the group who sponsored St. Joseph healthcare for more than 60 years. This award in her name is given to those who practice her mission everyday.
This year's award winners in four categories were chosen from around 100 nominations. They are Lynn King in the clinical employee category, Renee Bouchard in the non-clinical employee category, Dr. Ganesha Santhyadka in the physician category and Constance Kelsey in the volunteer category.
Kelsey has been giving her time to the hospital since the 70's in several ways including work in the auxiliary, the gift shop, and the front desk.
She said, "I feel like I should be giving St. Joe's an award. I don't think they need to give me one, but I'm very grateful. I hope to be here for quite a while longer, until they get tired of me and send me home."
